If you’ve been looking to deepen your practice of Zen - and to be of service to others - consider our Path of Service residential training program. Path of Service residents stay at Upaya for a minimum of three months and participate in three daily zazen periods, seminars, practice periods and sesshins. Explore your practice of the Buddha’s teachings with Roshi Joan Halifax, Sensei Beate Stolte and some of the most respected Dharma teachers from around the world.
At Upaya Zen Center, our daily work and practice become a way for us to serve many beings. Every day, we meet many people who need presence and attention. Our retreat center is a refuge for so many, and the daily work and practice of our residents are essential for keeping its doors open well into the future. Together, we explore what it means to meet this world and one another with an open, resilient heart.Residents offer thirty hours of work practice each week, which includes work in areas such as kitchen, garden, housekeeping, maintenance and office support. In return, residents receive food and lodging, as well as participation in our practice schedule.

The Web Developer:
Design and develop web pages and web sites. You don't need a large portfolio (we know a lot of you are looking to build your portfolio), but basic familiarity and experience with web development is expected. We can support and mentor you as you learn, but we cannot train you from scratch.
Develop innovative solutions to improve the organization and delivery of online information to our readers, members, and partners.
Have knowledge of creating online forms and accessibility issues, or a willingness to learn (quickly...it's not that hard).
Must be able to work with non-tech individuals and monastics to understand their needs and requirements and translate them to the online world.
Spell-check, grammar-check, and consitency-check the website.
Represent the publication at events as required.
Have access to their own design and coding tools. As long as you have access to your preferred set of tools, we're flexible on how you get the job done (we use Dreamweaver CS4 for basic site management).

Volunteers needed at Kagyu Samye Dzong!Come and join our growing team of volunteers who will be starting to renovate our new building from July 2009. Subject to contract, we will be buying a grade 2 listed building which will become our permanent London centre. The building is substantially bigger than our current Manor Place centre and will require considerable renovation.
We are looking for volunteers who can commit for a length of time and we are especially keen to recruit those skilled in general building skills, painting and decorating, electrical work, plumbing, plastering, and cooking for large numbers. That said, anyone with time and enthusiasm is welcome to help us for periods long and short.
We will have a limited amount of residential accommodation available, free-of-charge, for volunteers and we will, of course, provide three substantial meals a day to keep you going (not to mention limitless cups of tea)! Buddhanet requires IT professionals to assist with the general administration of the Buddhanet website as well as several exciting new online Buddhist projects.
Specifically we are looking for volunteers with experience in the areas of programming, database management, graphic artists, website administration and/or online security.
Some of the immediate new projects include the new Buddhist Elibrary project which is a collection of Buddhist content in a searchable content management system, adding new features to the World Buddhist Directory such as statistics and required fields, converting our exisiting Noticeboard data into database format for easy online updates and searching, as well as general website/server administration and security.
Other longer term projects include Forums and Chat, news, RSS, Podcasting and online Radio/TV.
Ideally, volunteers would have some sort of understanding or affiliation with Buddhism, have experience in their related IT field, be enthusiastic about supporting the Dharma online and willing to generously give of their time on a volunteer basis.

Buddhanet requires general volunteers, researchers and content contributors to assist with the online content on the Buddhanet website.
General volunteers could assist with the checking and updating of details for exisiting Dharma centers as well as adding any new Dharma centres in their local area to our World Buddhist Directory. This could be done by calling or emailing centers to verify their details are correct - all updates and additions can now be made online. In addition, finding events and Dharma centre prgrams for our exisiting Noticeboard section
For content contributors, when the new Buddhist Elibrary project is completed mid 2007 we will need people to contribute Dharma content in the areas of video, audio, artwork, graphics and photos, text and PDFs as well as interactive material such as flash. We are looking for all types of content from your Dharma teachers and groups to share with the world wide Sangha.
More specifically we are looking for volunteers with experience in the areas of; desktop publishing, preferably PDF files, any experience with pali or sanskrit fonts would be helpful, digital content conversion - scanning books, articles and artwork, converting audio and video tapes to digital, writing Dharma articles.

We are a non-profit Dharma organisation in the south of France who run courses in permaculture and meditation.We are renovating an old french ruin on the edge of Languedoc country park in southern France.
